I think you are wondering where this loom band mania comes from and how it can spread throughout the globe in just a few seconds. Well, I want to share some infos that I have about this loom band mania.
Loom band or Rainbow loom is made from plastic and used to weave colourful loom bands into bracelets, accessories and charms. These trending loom bands were invented by Cheong Choon Ng ( a Malaysian immigrant with a Chinese descent) in Novi, Michigan in the year 2011. Woah, it is 3 years ago! According to Wikipedia, rainbow loom has been sold over 1.2 million units in September 2013 which was last year. Loom bands have been trending including children in the age 8-14 years old. Despite from the rumours about these loom bands that may be harmful to health, loom bands have its advantages including increases children creatively-thinking skills in making or designing forms with these rainbow looms. Apart from that, loom bands are great for handcrafts while summer school or camps as it is a wonderful activity for people from all ages.
Honestly, I don't know how to make these loom bands myself but my brother does. He has tons of loom bands at his own room and trust me, he sold a lot from his classmates than I do.
